Synopsis

Tucked away in a corner of south Nanaimo is a five acre plot of land with a long history of producing local food. Five Acre Farm is one of the last intact parcels of BC’s first planned agricultural community. The passionate and dedicated volunteers who work the farm have created an inclusive space where people with diverse abilities learn about horticulture and gain valuable farming experience. But in southern British Columbia land is money, and the future of Five Acre Farm grows more uncertain with each new housing development that springs up around it.
