Production Design

When you throw away today's plastic wrap, or Amazon packaging, or wax-lined coffee cup, what happens to it? Well, if you live in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, it all ends up here, at the Edmonton Waste Management Centre, a place of strange beauty and the primary shooting location for our documentary.
This is a story about people: the people who do the critically important work of sorting our trash and reducing our ecological footprint. Their lives and work are the center of this film.
We will draw upon the wealth of old images and video in the municipal and provincial archives to help put the waste management centre in its historical context.
We will show the life cycle of what we throw away, which usually isn't a cycle at all.
