Marilou Lazaro

Marilou Lazaro, 62, born in the Philippines, is a caregiver for Senior Citizens and she also provides home support. She used to be a nurse in the Philippines that’s why she chose to become a caregiver in Canada; to be able to provide support and care for people who needs it. She started working as a caregiver for FREE until she got reliable employers and became a permanent resident. She’s been a caregiver for 18 years until now and her goal is to be able to save up enough money to go back to the Philippines because for her, HOME is where your family is.

The Children
The Children

As a nanny, your main client are the kids of the household. Most of the nannies who work overseas have kids in the Philippines and in order to cope, they take care of their employer's kids and love them as their own. When the kids grow older, they respect and love their nannies.

Production Design

One of the locations will be a retirement home where we get to meet some of the clients of our featured caregivers.
The film will not just focus on the challenges that these individuals face in their professional lives but also in their personal lives. With that being said, a good portion of the film will be set in a typical suburban house which will act as the characters haven amidst the events and struggles happening.
This particular look will be used during the reenactments of the film when it's set in the Philippines.
Because we have some reenactments, we will be using dramatic lighting inspired by one of our visual references, ROOM.
