2021 Black Creators Edition

STORYHIVE and the Black Screen Office (BSO) are excited to announce the Black Creators Edition. Our goal with this Edition is to support capacity building for Black content creators in British Columbia and Alberta, and contribute to empowering the next generation of Black creators.

How it works

  1. Pitch + Plan

    Sept 1 - Oct 6, 2021

    Submit your digital short idea and plan for your production. Before applying to the 2021 Black Creators Edition, please be sure to also read the Submission Rules.

  2. Award

    Jan 20, 2022

    A team of industry experts and TELUS team members will select 20 projects to receive production funding, training, mentorship and distribution support. Each awarded project receives a $20,000 production grant. BC projects will receive additional top up funding from Creative BC.

  3. Learn + Create

    Feb 12 - Dec 13, 2022

    Each successful team will work with mentors to produce and deliver a short program, 10+ minutes in duration, and a supplementary content piece, 30+ minutes in duration. Projects will be featured on select TELUS platforms in 2023.
