Sam Phillips
Director, Sam Rose Phillips is a filmmaker based in what is now known as British Columbia. Her experience framing narratives alongside collectives like Sea Shepherd, Stand, North Coast Cetacean Society, Clayoquot Action, and Pacific Wild has taught her that the most powerful way to shift hearts is to show the stories of love and rising that exists when we come together. Her words, images, and films are published by Save Our Seas Magazine, Wild Women Magazine, Salty at Heart Journal, CBC’s The Wild Canadian Year, and Outdoor Photography Magazine. Her films have been screened at the Surfrider Short Film Festivals (16, 17), and VIMFF (2018). She has hosted workshops with the Royal BC Museum and is a filmmaking mentor with youth from Tla-o-qui-aht First Nation.
