Amelie Thuy Nguyen
Amélie Nguyen is a Vietnamese Canadian raised in east Vancouver. She holds a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Montana and a Master of Public Health from the University of Melbourne. Amélie has worked in various countries and contexts including the World Health Organization, BC government, academia and not-for-profit. She has witnessed injustices and a growing gap between research and reality; she wants to bridge the gap through film. Amélie is passionate to tell stories that inspire thought, compassion and change. She is a huge advocate for diversity, health and equity. Her recent collaboration with director Derek Kwan – 2018 STORYHIVE-funded short documentary – Mẹ has already screened in 6 different cities across North America and the winner of two Best Short Documentary Awards.
