Lloydminster, you won’t want to miss this powerful evening.

On May 24, join content creator Alexa Blyan for the series premiere of the TELUS STORYHIVE Voices series Matriarch's—a Lloydminster-produced documentary series highlighting the strength, resilience and voices of generational trailblazers.

About the series: Matriarch's is a docuseries exploring the term “matriarchy” as it relates to individuals in select rural Alberta communities near Lloydminster. Highlighting the lives, stories and experiences of local women, the series takes a deep dive into the everyday practices, beliefs, struggles and similarities of these changemakers who each come from uniquely beautiful paths of life and have sparked intergenerational change within their families.

At the series premiere on May 24 at Lakeland College, community members will be welcomed to a culturally grounded and community-focused celebration. All attendees are welcome to join at 5 p.m. for a networking dinner, with the premiere screening at 6 p.m., featuring highlights of each episode in the six-part docuseries.

The screenings will be accompanied by introductions and behind-the-scenes insights to each episode from the cast and crew. Episode themes include intimate portrayals of multiple generations within one family, and other community members and students who share their experiences of strength, healing and leadership.

Following the screening, a lantern ceremony will be hosted to honour Alphonsine Andrews.
