Sometimes words aren't enough.
Visceral is a ten-minute documentary featuring Tasha Diamant, creator of the Human Body Project. As a performance artist, Tasha stands naked in public to parallel the fragile state of the planet and spark conversations about the importance of embracing our vulnerability. Her work has both moved people to tears and invited ridicule and police harassment. But practicing what she preaches has never been easy. Now, Tasha is undergoing the most difficult act of endurance yet as she battles advanced ovarian cancer with her family by her side. While the survival rate is disheartening, Tasha believes her cancer is an opportunity to surrender to her own vulnerability in a way she’s never allowed herself to do before.
We're looking for a producer, editor, cinematographer, and sound designer to join the team!
Known in Victoria for creating the Human Body Project, performance artist Tasha Diamant bares all for what she believes in. She has been labelled a visionary and called crazy but nothing has stopped her from showing up and sharing her truth. Now Tasha copes with a stage 4 ovarian cancer diagnosis and chooses to embrace it with courage, humour, and deep insight, believing that this difficult journey is a continuation of her work.
David is Tasha's husband and has stood beside her through thick and thin. While Tasha has been handling her diagnosis with unexpected gratitude, her family is of course scared for her future.
Over the years Tasha has touched and provoked audience members in Vancouver and passerby's on the street corners of Victoria. Even if they don't understand it at first, many have been deeply moved by her work and some engage in the performances themselves.
Almost everyone has a loved one who has suffered or is suffering from cancer. We hope to reach survivors, patients, and their family members and offer a unique perspective on life with cancer.
