Talent agent Sonia Singer has defaulted on another payment. A lucrative network deal - one with a condition - is on the table for her star client and sister, Sarah. Sonia insists Sarah undergo facial reconstructive surgery to comply with the network.
A desperate talent agent battles the superficial film industry, but must convince her star client to go under the knife.
Sonia Singer runs a successful talent agency - until she finds herself on the other side of a divorce. Her husband left the business with half the assets, but robbed her of all the clients. Now Sonia has only one actor left on her roster - her sister Sarah. A lucrative offer is on the table for Sarah to star in a new prime time series, but it's contingent on her undergoing facial reconstructive surgery and approval by the network of her new look. With her livelihood at stake, Sonia lobbies Sarah to go under the knife, while facing her own anger and hypocrisy in dealing with the superficiality of the film industry. Meanwhile Martin, a successful LA agent and former childhood friend of Sonia is pulled into the mix by the sisters' exploitative mother Samara, who wants family fame at any cost.
Our team has enthusiastic, passionate, primarily female powerhouses. Collectively we bring years of experience in acting, directing, producing, and writing. We are excited to deliver our project to Storyhive and know you'll love it as much as we do.
The eldest Singer sister and a workaholic, Sonia feels the burden of being the only one in her family with a grip on reality. The stress of running Singer Sisters Inc and keeping those around her afloat has manifested in excessive competitiveness and a tendency to overeat.
The younger of the Singer sisters and the family jewel, Sarah has been acting since childhood at the insistence of her opportunistic "stage mom", who has been using Sarah as a cash cow since she booked her first Barbie commercial at age four.
As an LA talent agent Martin is beloved by all of his clients, but he pines for someone he can share his life with intimately. His Zen-like approach to life is the antithesis of the Singer family’s hyper-anxious way, but he has grown up with the Singer sisters. He puts on a good show, but underneath it are cracks of loneliness that eventually bring him back to work with his former flame, Sonia.
A true “stage mom”, Samara has spent the better part of her life promoting her daughter Sarah’s acting career and living vicariously through her. As a child she dreamed of being a Broadway star, but those hopes were crushed when she married her coke-snorting musician husband Hank at age 20 and became a mother at 21.
