The sweeping parallels found in the use of dance to elevate consciousness offers a concept of unity amongst diversity. YAH WAVE takes the form of a non-verbal, musical meditation to serve as a metaphysical reflection of its diverse audience.
A non-narrative musical meditation on the commonalities found in spiritual dance rituals across distinct local cultures.
Featuring avant-pop and world-fusion electronic music, a mesmerizing sequence of dialogue-free scenes propel a meditation on the sweeping commonalities found in spiritual dance rituals across distinct cultural communities residing in Alberta. Ceremonial song and movement is a universal method cultural groups use to connect to higher realms. As the film progresses through a 24hr sun cycle, sacred dance involving the following groups will be showcased: indigenous, transgendered, islamic, mainstream millennial, south & east asian. Neither a traditional documentary nor a music video, YAH WAVE takes the form of a non-verbal, rhythmically guided meditation to serve as a metaphysical reflection of it's diverse Canadian audience.
A female dream team with a diverse skill set and a common freakish vision. Each an individual powerhouse, and together, a cohesive network driven to make this video achieve its full creative potential.
As we will be creating ads, a landing page for YAH WAVE will be where the ad traffic is driven. This landing page will provide information for the film, and will be a reference for the user of where, and when the film will be released, and where they can see it. The landing page will use the film’s graphics and branding so that it is cohesive, stylistically, with the ads. Ensuring that the page fits with the ads will increase user stays on the landing page.
We plan on hosting an initial event of the screening of the film. This event will aim to showcase the film, as well as act as an engaging, immersive experience with elements of the film being physically present at the event. Dancers from the different cultural groups featured in the film will give intermittent performances at the event to heighten the viewer’s connection and experience with the film.
We will using paid media to target our audience. This will be done by creating sponsored Facebook ads and Google AdWords display ads. By using paid media, we will be able to choose which demographic we wish to target based on psychographics (ie. cultural groups, independent film fans in Alberta). Engaging with these ads will send the user to the landing page of the YAH WAVE website.
We will create accounts on social platforms (ie. Instagram, Facebook, Twitter), where we will post organic, branded content in aim of creating exposure for the film. This will include imagery/stills from the film, as well as graphics. We will be active on these accounts with engaging with our audience, as well as follow relevant accounts within the scope of our audience demographic to garner interest and exposure. The hashtag #yahwave will also be used across all platforms.
