A couple greet a man at their door who informs them that the country they live in has been sold to a huge corporation.
The story of NEWMERICO begins with the ring of a doorbell. The sound wakes a couple up from their lazy Sunday morning, forcing them to two venture downstairs and investigate who might be visiting so early. Opening the door they are greeted by Scott, their assigned "Transition Specialist". He informs them that their country has been sold to the Pan-Atlantic Northern Conglomerate and is now called NEWMERICO. Scott brings the shocked couple up to speed on the how's and why of the sale and what NEWMERICO is going to do for them and what they will have to do for it. In the dark comedy vein of Black Mirror, NEWMERICO takes a look at how people would react if their world was flipped upside down, and whether they would fight or simply flow with the tide of a new establishment.
The Newmerico project is led by award winning director Matthew Leigh and is supported by a strong crew who have worked well together in the past. We want to extend an invitation for script supervisor, grip, camera op, and actors.
A "Transition Specialist" has come to the door and surprised couple David and Susan. He has told the two of them that their country has been purchased by the Pan-Atlantic Northern Conglomerate and is now known as Newmerico. David has asked Susan to verify the information by turning of the TV and checking the news.
Susan has rejoined David and Scott at the front door. Scott tries to explain the situation and stop them from panic. David and Susan start asking hard questions.
