Rudi is stuck in the past. While trying to navigate the choppy waters of a post break-up, Rudi makes a series of bad decisions which lands her in a cringe-worthy situation. This is a story of her journey to closure.
Never Better is a comedy about seeking validation and getting something completely different in return; closure.
Never Better - A closure comedy is a story about navigating the waters of a break-up and the crazy things love makes us do. We hope this film asks the question how long is too long to "wash that man right out of your hair"— and also to double as a guide on what not to do when dealing getting over and ex. Our main character, Rudi Bahl is in her mid-thirties, in between jobs, lives in a run down East Van apartment, oh and is completely in denial of her mental state - she is stuck in the past. After making the decision to break up with her ex, Dave, a new owner of a bed and breakfast in the middle of nowhere B.C., She takes a road trip to reconcile with him but things take an interesting turn. Through a series of bad decisions and cringe worthy situations Rudi finds closure.
Our team is very excited to bring this story to life. It really takes a village to make a movie & we are grateful for our village of talented members. We want to thank Storyhive for giving us the platform and deadlines to get it done!
East Vancouver is Rudis neighbourhood. It's quirky, electric and full of character. Her local community is an important part of the story. She belongs here and it's a stark contrast to Dave's way of life in his remote B&B. We'll be filming in iconic locations and businesses capturing the uniqueness of the area. Characters from the local community will appear as extras and it will be a 'real' portrayal of East Vancouver.
Daves Bed and Breakfast is in the 'Middle of Nowhere,' remote British Columbia. This will mean filming in a smaller BC Community and we're excited to find the perfect place. Just as Rudi is a 'City Girl,' Dave appreciates smaller community living and we'll be working with smaller towns to find the perfect Bed and Breakfast location. We'll be focusing our search on the Sunshine Coast, the Gulf Islands, the Kootenays or the Fraser Valley. We'll be using our social networks and local film commissions to find the perfect community.
The core team live and work in Vancouver and we'll be utilising our community to make our film happen. We will use local crew and locations. Our cast will mostly be BC based and the equipment and gear we rent and borrow will be from the local film community. If we win a grant the funds will go straight back into the community.
