A lover of the sun yearns for light like a plant desperate for energy. When it escapes her she sets out on a mission to find and harness it. She tests her ability to manipulate the light throughout, only to re-discover its ephemeral nature.
Amazing music, interactive projections, contemporary dance narrative, and polished video production hybridized.
Born of a desire to combine the organic and electronic into stunning and infinitely listenable songs, REGAL supersedes the paradigm of ‘pop’
Orbit is the first song Regal composed and has an excited, enamoured energy for that reason. When the trio wrote it, Dom hadn't yet officially joined the group, and he wanted to show them what he had to offer. He was on a train across Canada and woke up to the sunrise on the Canadian prairie. He wrote a love song to the dawn and called it Orbit.Go to profile
Our tenacious, creative, & experimental tendencies are 3 central traits that, when combined, reflect the innovative nature of storyhive.
We approached Regal for this concept because their music instills a feeling that we can't simply articulate. Rather than articulate the underlying themes of Orbit, we plan to use video as our voice. Regal wholeheartedly believes in our ability to create something outstanding. Oh and did I mention Regal is freaking awesome!Go to profile
Welcome to Orbit! Meet the talented folks who will bring you up above the clouds with an audio-visual experience!
A brief explanation of how we plan to use projection mapping and holography in our video. See sample video for proof of concept tests.
We plan to bring a bunch of technology into the one of the most ecologically diverse areas of Canada. Our devices will be powered using sustainable battery generators, as care for the surrounding environment is one of our foremost concerns.
A series of behind the scenes videos and 'how to' content will be released in the weeks following the release to show how exactly the projection mapping and effects utilized in this treatment were created. This content aims to educate and encourage viewers to share videos.
It is important to utilize the ties that we’ve made with gear companies, radio hosts, and any person with online clout to allow them help us promote the video. One share from such a personality like Alan Cross (example above) can equal 1000’s of plays.
The technology and film methods used to make the Orbit video will be of interest to various science, film and tech blogs. Appropriate press releases will be pushed to these non-music related sites as they often keep a very ardent audience. Also Orbit being a musical project amongst the content will allow for the video to stand out and be noticed.
Social Media is of utmost importance in a marketing campaign for a music video. Banners on facebook pages will be used to promote and link to the video. Sponsored posts on instagram, twitter and facebook will be funded to increase video visibility as well as increase and encourage peer sharing.
REGAL will book and promote a video screening party where the music video will be screened and the band will play live with other associated acts. Promoting such an event in the weeks leading up will by proxy bring attention to the music video. Concert attendees will also be encouraged to share the video via social media while in attendance with the motivation of merchandise and free music giveaways.
REGAL will utilize previously established relationships with online blogs (i.e. Exclaim, CBC, ) to help push and publicize the Orbit video and share it with their audience. This, of course, will only take place after TELUS Optik On Demand and the Optik Local YouTube channel have had a chance to premiere the video first.
