Damian McElgunn

Damian McElgunn is an emerging independent filmmaker. As a screenwriter, producer and director, he has a keen interest in cinematic storytelling as well as capturing and celebrating the unique essence of the Irish language and culture. Drawing upon his fluency in the Irish language, he has created short films and projects which have featured on TG4,(Irish language television). In 2023, he won the SMEDIAS award in Dublin, Ireland, for 'Best TV Production of the Year' with a short film delving into the punk rock scene of 1980s Belfast, weaving together stories in Irish and English languages. This short film blended history with iconic music, offering a fresh perspective on tumultuous times.
