Multi-talented, creative and innovative describes Cheyanna Josette Veronica Kootenhayoo, (Dene/Cree/Nakota). aka DJ Kookum. This woman is a member of Alexis Nakota Sioux Nation, who grew up in Cold Lake, Alberta, her maternal Denesuline traditional territory. Moving to Vancouver, BC. (Unceded Coast Salish Territory) in 2008 to pursue a career in filmmaking, Cheyanna graduated from Indigenous Independent Digital Filmmaking program (IIDF) at Capilano University in 2010. Since graduating she has been working in the Media industry in several capacities including camera operator, video editor, and talent coordinator, to name a few. Her focus is on the creation of music, music videos, cultural and art based multimedia productions, showcasing her unique artistic and creative style.
