Seeking opportunities

Growing up, I knew very little of my Indigenous culture. I grew up off-reserve and in a small farming community. After graduating from high school, I joined the Canadian Military and later the United States Marine Corps. I assimilated. Then one day one of my uncles approached me and noticed that I was hurting within. He advised me to search for my roots and that I would find them on a reserve in Clear Hills, AB. It was there that I learned my history. Afterwards, I went on a journey to learn my culture, my language and ceremony. Today and three years later, I am referred to as a knowledge-holder. My goal is to share my journey through mediums, such as film.
