"The Quiet Canadians" is an original web series about one exceptional government-sanctioned assassin.
The Quiet Canadians is a fictional look into Canada's involvement in covert and clandestine activities. It presents a view of how operatives are recruited into this profession and trained. Based on a novel by Warren Thompson, the story follows an operative fresh from a recent operation that has left him with a secret enemy to thwart. The Producers have adapted this novel into a serialized drama for the web. As the series progresses, flashbacks to the operative's young life and how he was recruited and trained into this profession will further inform the person he needs to be in order to face this dangerous opponent.
We are offering opportunities for filmmakers in British Columbia to "guest direct" selected episodes of the web series. Soon after preproduction on the pilot episode begins, the Producers will publish a list of episodes available for a director, with timelines and production details, and reach out to the film community through social media and live forums to find talented and fresh directors for these episodes. A "look book" and style guide for the series will be provided, but directors will have the opportunity to put their own stamp on the series and be credited for their contribution.
Through our involvement on action, spy and martial arts websites, facebook groups and forums, we are engaging with fans of the genre to get them to watch the episodes online as they are released. The Quiet Canadians style is inspired by the Hong Kong martial arts films and recent spy thrillers like "Bridge of Spies", and the creators have engaged with several stunt coordinators and consultants to ensure the action and stakes are high-quality and as realistic as possible, which should delight action and spy thriller fans alike.
The Quiet Canadians will make use of online social media and the involvement of the filmmaking community. We aim to create an online "buzz" around the storyline. The complete story arc will be serialized in a collection of webisodes, released one at a time, building a fan base that engages on social media forums and tries to anticipate “what happens next". A selection of behind-the-scenes vignettes and bonus content will allow audiences to further dive into the series.
